Helping you sleep better, breathe easier,
and feel more rested

Home-Based Sleep Studies & CPAP-Titration

If you experience daytime tiredness, poor concentration, heavy snoring, or unrefreshing sleep, you may be living with undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). This condition causes repeated breathing interruptions during sleep, which can significantly impact your health and quality of life.

I offer a convenient Home-Based Sleep Studies & CPAP-Titration service through my private psychiatric practice in Somerset West, serving patients in Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Cape Town Metro, the Overberg, and throughout the Western and Northern Cape.

Who might benefit from sleep testing from home?

Sleep plays a critical role in mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. A home-based sleep study may be appropriate for certain individuals and is arranged following a clinical assessment.

Referrals are accepted from psychiatrists, general practitioners, psychologists, and other registered healthcare professionals.

Learn more about our Referral process.

A home-based sleep study may be appropriate for:

  • Individuals experiencing daytime sleepiness, fatigue, or poor concentration
  • People who snore heavily or frequently
  • Those with observed pauses in breathing during sleep (often reported by a partner)
  • Patients whose mental health symptoms may be worsened by poor or disrupted sleep

Understanding Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)

OSA is a sleep disorder that causes the airway to become blocked during sleep. It can lead to disrupted sleep, poor mood, memory problems, and increased risk of heart disease or diabetes if left untreated.

Identifying and managing OSA can greatly improve energy, mood, and overall wellbeing — especially when mental health concerns are present.

Home-Based Sleep Studies

How do home-based sleep studies work?

These studies involve a compact, clinically validated device delivered to your home, enabling you to undergo testing while sleeping in your own bed. The process is simple, well-tolerated, and supported remotely by our clinical team.

If obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is identified, CPAP titration and mask fitting may follow to determine the most effective therapy and ensure optimal comfort.

What to expect from the Sleep Study process

1. Clinical Review

A short assessment determines clinical suitability for testing.

2. Device Delivery

A home-use diagnostic device is couriered to your door with guidance and support.

3. Overnight Testing

You’ll complete the sleep study, using the sleep test kit, in the comfort of your own home, following your usual bedtime and sleep routine. This helps ensure the results reflect your natural sleep patterns.

Simply wear the provided monitoring device as instructed, go to bed at your typical time, and sleep as you.

4. Return & Analysis

The device is collected and reviewed by our clinical team.

5. Reporting

A detailed diagnostic report is shared with you and your referring provider.

6. CPAP-Titration & Mask Fitting

If necessary, I help coordinate treatment planning.

Devices are available to patients across Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Cape Town Metro, the Overberg, and surrounding regions in the Western Cape and Northern Cape.
